As a volunteer, you are part of SEATRU team whose mission is to monitor every turtle that lands on the beach to nest, ensure that the turtles nest undisturbed, all nests are protected and hatchling production is maximized. The work involved is very similar to work carried out in many sea turtle conservation programs throughout the world.
A summary of the Sea Turtle Volunteer Programme itinerary is given below. Volunteer will be notified if there are any changes to the schedule.
Before your arrival
Please note that if your flight is delayed before the start of the program and you are unable to follow the big group, you will be required to pay an extra transportation fee (RM100) to travel to the island. We understand that this is an inconvenience, but it is necessary to maintain the schedule and ensure that everyone arrives on time.
During the last day of the program
We would like to remind you that weather and wave conditions can be unpredictable, and there might be a slight delay upon your arrival to the mainland (3.30 pm at the latest). Therefore, we recommend you buy an evening or nighttime air or bus ticket. This will allow for any unforeseen circumstances and help ensure you are not rushing to catch your transportation.
Please note that we are not responsible for any late arrivals that cause you to miss your flight or bus. We understand this may be disappointing, but we cannot be held liable for any missed connections. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
