• Do not venture alone into the jungle. Volunteers are only allowed to explore the jungle with SEATRU staff.
  • Do not go snorkeling or swimming alone. Go with a buddy and you MUST wear a life jacket (even if you know how to swim) and do inform the SEATRU staff.
  • Do not swim or snorkel too far away or damage any coral intentionally or accidentally.
  • Do not touch any marine life when snorkelling. While snorkelling, be aware that some animals can be dangerous e.g. sharks, Titan triggerfish, stonefish, stingrays, jellyfish etc. Be extremely cautious.
  • Do not swim or snorkel after 3:00 PM. Turtles that are about to nest for the night will be coming into the bay and might be disturbed. Any disturbance to them in the water may cause them to swim out of the bay and will not lay their eggs at our beach.
  • Do not remove or collect any marine life even though they are dead.
    You are in a protected Marine Park Area.
  • While walking along the beach at night, do not use any lights. This may frighten the turtles that are about to land or nesting turtles that already on the beach.
  • Be careful not to step on hatchlings that crawling to the sea at night. We do not restrain hatchlings so that they are free to make their way to the sea anytime day or night.
  • Please keep the beach and our living areas clean. Do not throw garbage everywhere.
  • Do not disturb, hurt or kill any of the other wildlife like tree shrews, squirrels, monkeys, mouse deers, birds or butterflies. Many of these animals are endangered and protected too.
  • The use of toilet tissue is not allowed as it will clog the sewage system.
  • DO NOT WHISTLE while in Chagar Hutang Beach. SEATRU staffs are very superstitious and believe whistling will attract spirits.
